They say projects are born on a green field. Ours was born in a waiting room.

Many people do not know, and you probably do not either, that I am a trained programmer and that building systems and applications has been my lifelong profession. So how did I end up in healthcare? It happened at the request of my orthopaedist in Topoľčany.

In 2023 he asked me to build him a reservation system that would help him digitise his practice and simplify communication with patients. I took the job, and together we started developing our first outpatient reservation system.

Shortly after, Vcakarni.sk saw the light of its first practice. It caught on so well that other doctors from the same corridor adopted it too.

We understood that we had started something that can bring real value and real meaning. And that this side project can help thousands of patients, thousands of healthcare professionals and, in the end, our entire healthcare system. For that to happen, though, we could not stand still.

We kept realising that our healthcare needs more. And working with doctors in daily practice only confirmed it.

We saw that nurses need a break from the paperwork weighing them down. That today's technology lets doctors and clinics use their working time far more efficiently. And that booking a doctor and finding a free appointment should not feel like a final exam, but be as simple as ordering a taxi.

Our technological know-how, the trust inside the team and the advantages of AI let us turn these challenges into reality unusually fast. The only thing that could not keep up was our identity at the time.
